MESSAGE FROM RABBI KEAN
Dear CBAJ Family,
On behalf of Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob, I would like to wish you and your family a restful and meaningful Shabbat!
I will be out of town all of next week, returning to Albany the week of July 28th. As always, I will do my best to answer timely religious, halachic, or sensitive matters in a timely fashion. Non-urgent matters I will follow-up on upon my return.
Please join me in welcoming all of the visitors with delegation from Eshkol, Israel, who are visiting the Capital District thanks to the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York. Please be sure to greet anyone you might meet in shul!
We mourn the deaths of IDF soldiers 21-year-old St.-Sgt. Shoham Menahem, 20-year-old Sgt. Shlomo Yakir Shrem, and 19-year-old Sgt. Yuliy Faktor who were killed while fighting in northern Gaza. We also mourn those chayalim who died in a recent spate of suicides - 3 who died, and 1 critically wounded - in the last two weeks. Support for soldiers with mental health struggles is gaining increased attention during this ongoing war. There are worthy organizations that work to support chayalim, including those with mental health struggles - such asBrothers for Life, Belev Echad, Hasadi Eran Association , ERAN Emotional First Aid. (Please feel free to share other organizations that do this work with me.)
We are heading into the first Shabbat of the Three Weeks, with Tisha B'Av just over two weeks away. This is a time for us to reflect on the legacy of the Beit HaMikdash, the meaning of Galut (exile), and our yearning for Geulah (redemption), but most of all, for us to ask ourselves what we can do, how we can strive to better servants of HaKadosh Baruch Hu and to bring the Geulah that we are awaiting and striving for.

MESSAGE FROM LIFE & LEGACY
“The synagogue is a community which values who I am, how I live, what I give to others now and to those who follow me in years to come. It is the place where they know my name." Rabbi Jonathan Sacks
We are excited and honored to be partnering with 10 other local organizations in the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s LIFE & LEGACY™ program. Please help us pay it forward and leave a legacy for future Capital District Jews. Please speak to Paula Mosher or Ellen Kaplowitz the Life & Legacy committee chairs about partnering on this crucial initiative to ensure the vitality of Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob for the next 200 years.
Please click HERE for an important message from our Security Committee & security partner, Community Security Service (CSS) regarding guidelines for attending pro-Israel events
SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING HEALTH & WELLNESS
We are eager for everyone to attend our services and programs and to feel welcome and safe while in our building. Anyone who has symptoms of any illness or is not feeling well is strongly encouraged to stay home. Better to miss services than risk spreading illness. While in attendance, frequent hand-washing is encouraged as well as minimizing close contact with others.
