MESSAGE FROM RABBI KEAN
Dear CBAJ Family,
On behalf of Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob, I would like to wish you and your family a restful and meaningful Shabbat!
It is hard to believe that today marks 700 days since October 7. This means 700 days of Israel being at war. 700 days that hostages have been cruelly held and tortured by Hamas.
It is with great sadness that note the death of IDF Sgt. 1st Class (res.) Ariel Lubliner, 34, of Kiryat Bialik at the end of last week. He was the 900th IDF casualty since the beginning of the war.
We stand in support of, love for, and solidarity with the families of Israeli hostages Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Alon Ohel, who Hamas recently released cruel propaganda films about today, and former Israeli hostage Idan Shtivi, hy''d, whose body was retrieved from Gaza by the IDF last week, and whose identity was only released earlier this week.
I would like to publicly thank Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Police Chief Brendan Cox, Albany District Attorney Lee Kindlon, Albany Common Council Member Deborah Zamer, Albany Chief Auditor Dorcey Applyrs, State Sen. Pat Fahy for holding a press conference to draw attention to the rise in anti-Semitic and anti-LGBT hate crimes and declare their resolute support for confronting these and all forms of hatred in our city. I was honored to join, alongside Rabbi Bomzer, most of our rabbinic colleagues in Albany, and leaders of other Capital District Jewish community institutions.
Am Yisrael Chai.
Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Ben Kean
