This week, I am reflecting on the power of Kevurat Yisrael, Jewish burial. In particular, I am extremely impressed and proud that this week, the CBAJ community came together to provide a minyan for the burial of Martin Madison, z''l, a Jewish man who lived in a group home and left behind a small family. In particular, I want to publicly acknowledge Rabbi Bomzer and Barry Siegel, who were indispensable in supporting me to prepare and run the funeral, as well as all those who came to be a part of the minyan. These efforts meant a tremendous deal to the family, who were clearly deeply moved by the funeral.
Today is Rosh Chodesh Av, so please be sure to review the rules for the Nine Days! As always, I am always happy to answer any questions.

JFS experienced clinicians are here to help with compassionate, evidence-based interventions for people of all ages. They provide in-person and remote telehealth appointments. JFS-CBAJ Volunteer Partnership CBAJ invites you to volunteer with one of JFS's programs to support seniors and vulnerable individuals in our community. Volunteer opportunities are time flexible, and include participation in the Capital District's kosher Meals on Wheels program, volunteer transportation for seniors, and grocery shopping for homebound seniors. Fully vaccinated community members are welcome to register as "vaccinated" at this link.
If you feel sick at all, please exercise good judgment and stay home rather than attending services, regardless of vaccine status.
We still request those who are able to help our Minyan status register for weekday and Friday and Shabbat afternoon services, so that we can continue to confirm a Minyan for those times. A registration email is sent weekly.
