SPEAKER We are excited to host Rabbi Sam Shor as our guest scholar this Shabbat. Rabbi Shor will deliver the morning sermon entitled "Noach, Avraham and the Power of Tefila.
Rabbi Shor will also deliver a talk after Kiddush class entitled "From the Depths, A Holy Fire- Commemorating the Yahrtzeit of the Piascezna Rebbe zy''a" and a Seudah Shlishit Talk (approx. 6:30 pm) entitled "As the Waters Recede...The backstory of the Miracle of Chanuka"
An Albany native, Rabbi Shor is the Program Director of the Seymour J. Abrams Orthodox Union Jerusalem World Center, where he oversees a vast network of educational initiatives, including Torah classes, tours and experiential educational programming for the Anglo community.
Rabbi Shor grew up in Albany at CBAJ, served as NCSY Chapter and Regional President, then later as NCSY City Director and Associate Regional Director. Following his work with NCSY, Rabbi Shor served with distinction as the Director of Judaic Life at the Sidney Albert Albany JCC.

And this Sunday: I look forward to celebrating our Hachnasat Sefer Torah, dedicating the Elliot Menchel Torah for CBAJ, with all of you. Dedicating a new Torah is a truly momentous occasion, and I hope that we can share it with the broader Jewish community here in the Capital District.

Finally, we note with sadness the fourth anniversary on the Gregorian calendar of the Tree of Life Massacre in Pittsburgh this past week (Oct. 27, Hebrew date 18 Marcheshvan). The Tree of Life Massacre was the deadliest anti-Semitic attack on US soil. 11:15 am - 12:00 pm Optional Donor Letter writing All those who dedicated a part of the Torah are invited to come prior to the beginning of the ceremony to help Rabbi Serebryanski fill in a letter of the Torah. Location: CBAJ lobby 12:00 - 1:00 pm Siyum & Parade Starting in the CBAJ lobby, the final letters will be filled in; a brief ceremony; the Torah will be paraded outside and then to the Aron Kodesh in the Main Sanctuary with great fanfare, music, dancing.

Torah High 2022-2023 CBAJ's Torah High meets Mondays, 7-9 pm and is open to all students in grades 8 - 12. Pizza dinner is served. Registration information available here
Babysitting Babysitting is available for children ages 0-5 every Shabbat morning for from 10:00-11:30 am! You do not need to be a member to drop off your kids. At least one parent or guardian must be at CBAJ for the duration of babysitting. Babysitting will take place in Classroom 3. The babysitters will bring the kids to Kiddush, please remember to pick up your kids when babysitting ends! Please make sure to inform the babysitters if your child has any food allergies/restrictions. Children in diapers may participate, but babysitters will not be able to change diapers, so please check on kids in diapers.
Youth Groups Kids in grades k-5 will meet each Shabbat morning at 10-11 am. Groups will be led by our youth director, Yael Gonzalez, and teen youth leaders. At this time of the High Holidays, we ask you for contributions to help us sustain this mission.

The wearing of masks will be a personal choice. This applies to both services and social activities, such as kiddish.
Fully vaccinated community members are welcome to register as "vaccinated" at this link.
If you feel sick at all, please exercise good judgment and stay home rather than attending services, regardless of vaccine status.
We still request those who are able to help our Minyan status register for weekday and Friday and Shabbat afternoon services, so that we can continue to confirm a Minyan for those times. A registration email is sent weekly.
