CONDOLONCES We regret to inform you of the passing of CBAJ member Sydelle Rickman (Ziesel bas Yosef), wife of CBAJ member Lawrence Rickman, mother of Laura (& Matthew) Hosford and Wendi Rickman (& Jonathan Broth), grandmother of Merrick and Phoebe Hosford, Sabrina Broth, and Tyler Conway, sister-in-law of Alvin & Pat Rickman. The funeral will take place on Sunday at 1 PM at Levine Memorial Chapel (note updated time). The burial will follow at the Beth Abraham-Jacob cemetery on Western Avenue. See below for information about our newly announced scholar-in-residence Shabbat with Rabbi Shimshon Nadel. Rabbi Nadel is a dynamic educator with multiple connections to Albany, who teaches about topics that are at the forefront of our minds at this time.
This week, I will be starting a three-part lecture series on Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) - a book of Tanakh that has a special place in our tradition as a book that voices deep existential dread.

We are excited to announce a new Scholar-in-Residence Shabbat Parshat Vayishlach, December 1-2, 2023 Rabbi Shimshon Nadel "Ba-yamim Ha-hem Ba-zman Ha-zeh: Celebrating the Miracle of Medinat Yisrael and our Modern-day Maccabees" A Shabbat full of song, chizzuk, ruach, and learning.

Rabbi Shimshon Nadel lives and teaches in Jerusalem, where he serves as Rabbi of Kehilat Zichron Yosef, Rosh Kollel of the Sinai Kollel and Hovevei Zion’s Kollel Boker, and lectures at the OU Center. Rabbi Nadel lectures in communities around the world as a scholar-in-residence. Before making Aliyah, he served pulpits in the United States. He studied at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

YOUTH PROGAMS
Torah High2023-2024 CBAJ's Torah High meets Mondays, 7-9 pm and is open to all students in grades 8 - 12. Dinner is served. Contact Rabbi Kean with questions. Online registration available HERE Tot Shabbat For children ages 0-5 and their parents at 10:30 am in classroom 3. Please contact Joshua Schulman-Marcus (jschumar@gmail.com) if you would like to be added to the Young Families WhatsApp group. Youth Groups Kids in grades k-5 will meet each Shabbat morning at 10-11 am. Groups will be led by our youth director and teen youth leaders. Babysitting Babysitting is available for children ages 0-5 every Shabbat morning from 10:00-11:30 am! You do not need to be a member to drop off your kids. At least one parent or guardian must be at CBAJ for the duration of babysitting. Babysitting will take place in Classroom 3. The babysitters will bring the kids to Kiddush, please remember to pick up your kids when babysitting ends! Please make sure to inform the babysitters if your child has any food allergies or restrictions. Children in diapers may participate, but babysitters will not be able to change diapers, so please check on kids in diapers.
